Last Session Information

As suggested and agreed by the majority, for the last session of Have Fun with English Programme, we will have an explore race activity. The details are as stated below:

Time : 9 a.m. (Please gather at SMK Sungai Pusu at 8 a.m.)
Venue : International Islamic Unversity Malaysia

Third Session

Date: February 18, 2011
Time: 3-5.15pm
Venue: Surau Nur Al-Falah
Aims of this session: Learning a language is fun, especially English when it is a necessity for us to be good in it. Since all students love to listen to music, we incorporate both; the music and language to make it fun. Thus, by learning the language, they could have fun as well. Furthermore, the song is a motivational song that fits their age.

Song: Darin Zanyar: Be what you wanna be/Peerless (a song about achieving ambitions and dreams)

3:00p.m.
Students gathered in the surau and the session started with the recitation of Al-Fatihah.  Before starting the module, we discussed the suitable date for the last session with the students.



3:15p.m.
The students were divided into their groups and they listened to the songs that they will have to sing later on which is Darin Zanyar-Be What You Wanna Be/Peerless



3.20p.m.
Every group went to suitable locations to practice the song. They were given approximately around 35 minutes to practice the song.

4:00p.m.
The singing session begin with the performance from Group 4 (All Cute) followed by Group 5 (Freaks and Geeks), Group 2 (The Boom Boom of English) combined with Group 3 (Watch Out) and lastly by group 1 (Dragonfly). Some students could not participate in the session due to badminton practice.

4.35p.m.
The performance ended and the facilitators discussed about the winner for the performance. Due to cooperation about team members and the enthusiasm to sing the song, Group 1 (Dragonfly was chosen to be the winner). A hamper was given to the group for their win.



4.40p.m.
Students were again gathered according to their groups and the LDK session is held with a Spell-it right activities. The facilitators gave a number of words to the students and they have to spell it, either on paper or verbally. This activity is to improve their vocabulary whereby they could use the new words that they got from this activities use in their daily life and also in academic matters (essay).



5.05p.m.
Chief facilitator briefed the student about information of dyslexia teenagers.

5.15p.m.
We end the session.


Comments
-Some students have badminton practice every Friday so many could only attend this session for a while
-The date of the last session is still undecided

Mascot Programme

Venue: Mydin, Central Market, Wangsa Walk

          Three of our group members (Nad, Fiza and Fauzana) went to the places stated above to buy the gifts and stuff for our third and last sessions. The date of the third session is on February 18, 2011 (Friday) while the proposed date for the last session is on February 20, 2011 (Sunday).

Second Session

Second session
Date: February 11, 2011
Time: 2:45-5.25pm
Venue: Surau Nur Al-Falah, Bilik Tayangan and Bilik Multimedia SMK Sungai Pusu
Aims of this session: Expose them to be alert and notice the important information in the movie while entertaining them as well. Shrek was chosen as it contain a lot of moral values.

We arrived at SMK Sungai Pusu at 2:30pm and while waiting for the participants to arrived, some of us prepare the equipments for the module of the day which is Movie Show. 








2:45p.m
 Chief facilitator asked the students for their suggestions on the last session activity
 Select the leader and assistant among the students. The candidates must not have any post or position in the school (eg prefect or class monitor) and they must have mobile phone to ease the communication between us and them. The selected leader is Daniel Putra and the assistant is Syasya.




















3.10p.m
The students gathered and moved to Bilik Tayangan for the movie show.





3.20p.m
The movie started entitled Shrek. The students need to jot down important information as the facilitators will ask questions later on. 







3.40p.m
The movie show stopped briefly as we prepare to move to Bilik Multimedia since it is more convenience there. The previous room was quite hot and some students complained about it. While preparing the equipments there, the Chief Facilitator asked one question and rewarded the student who answered it with a gift.

3.45p.m
The student moved to Bilik Multimedia and the movie resume.





4.40p.m
The movie stop briefly since the chief facilitator asked two more questions to the students and the students who answered it got rewarded as well. The principle of operant conditioning can be seen here as more students seem to volunteer to asked questions as they seen the first student got rewarded.

4.45p.m
The movie resumed.



5.00p.m
The movie ends and four more questions have been asked.
The Chief facilitator also briefed the students about the movie review they need to do and send next week. However it is not compulsory but for those who do it, the best one will be rewarded with a gift.

5.10p.m
We had a brief LDK session to discuss about the activities that the students want to do for the last session.

5.20p.m
We discuss about the suitable date for our last session. We plan to do it on Saturday (February 19,2011) but it clashed with their Merentas Desa program.











5.25p.m
 We end the second session with Tasbih Kifarah and Surah Al-‘Asr



Comment
-Some students could not attend the program due to Badminton practice
-Some need to return home earlier due to prior commitment
-Some are absence due to unknown reason
-Two students joined the program for the first time since they are absence before
